That is terrible. Do you know what sort of illness it is?
...my girlfriend has an astrocytoma, the doctor says she won't make it to her 16th birthday, but I'm hoping against hope that he's wrong. She's fighting it too, and she's getting closer to it every day.

My thoughts go out to Jasmine, even though I didn't know her.
She's in a happy place now, I'm sure.

As both of us knew, this was bound to happen....but like you...it doesn't make this any easier.

I came to offer my condolences as soon as i heard, and i am ashamed i am so late in doing so. How i still remember staying up well into 4 or 5am chatting with bright, lively, witty...and most of all caring Jasmine, she was my friend, as she was to many fellow staff and members.

What set her apart is exactly what you mentioned, her unwavering spirit and generosity in every aspect of her work - hell she was one of the few who would challenge the wisdom of Titntin...and that takes guile!!

I guess what I'm conveying is what everyone else is - she's gone...and we all miss her, But a (small) part of me is glad it's over, her pain is gone...and I hope she's in a better place.

Like you Titntin, I shed a tear while writing this. And that doesn't happen often.

I never spoke to her personally, but she has my deep gratitude for keeping this site alive. I'm going to say somthing that I came to realize a few years ago after my father passed.

Mourning a loss is a natural and sometimes healthy response to a loved one passing away, But after that we need to celebrate the life that she lead. She is in a better place now, maybe having a party in the clouds, happy that shes free from her mortal shell, if you believe in that.

When I first saw/heard what happend, I don't know, I didn't know what to say, so I didn't write anything down here. I didn't know what was wrong, and I feel bad that I was getting angry at her when she was acting a bit irrational towards me and TM33S at retroiso and during other chats, when in fact she was dealing with so much more at the time.

It puts things into other perspectives when you see more of something, and I want to now say I hope, no, I know you're in a better place and that peace has been distilled upon you now Mys Videl. I know what you mean. We had our differences as well, but a month or two before she passed, I got up the courage to PM her on MSN. I didn't know what I wanted to say to her at first, but as soon as we started talking she treated me like every bit a normal person.

What I mean is, the last we talked it was bad. Real bad. I took some things personally that I shouldn't have and got all bent out of shape over it.

But when we started talking... ahh... it was a big relief off of my shoulders. Hell, we talked for well over an hour and I was VERY happy that I made peace with her that night. I can hold a grudge, don't get me wrong, but this was something I had to do.

After that, we talked a few more times about "stuff" and it was enjoyable. But then I kinda went offline for about a month with most things... and then Commandoboy (a good friend indeed) told me the news. I couldn't believe it. However he said it happened about a month ago. So I literally talked to her maybe a couple weeks before it happened.

I am so glad we patched things up before that. I honestly thought she had beat "the illness" and kinda put it in the back of my mind. I know she was glad to, she told me so.

Whatever happens, it's hard to apologize for something when that person is no longer around. I have and will miss her. She had a mind of her own and a will that was damn near unshakable. She did a lot more than most people realize, including myself.

Her parents sent her to an "Exodus" to rid her of her evil desires. She did not love them, nor did she speak to them till she learned of her cancer. Only in the last year did she speak to her father again. I just had to clear that up, she would have hated to people think her parents actually cared. She wanted to leave with no grudges, is how she explained it to me.

Moreover, we will miss her as a friend. Jasmines management style didn't always win her friends as she was never afraid to 'ruffle a few feathers', but many of you, like us, became firm friends with her and discovered what a warm caring and considered friend she could be.

To the people who she acted "negative" or "hustled" around, I believe she had good intentions. I don't know anybody on this wonderful site yet but I sure wish to get to know some of you. After reading around Mys Videl or Jasmine, I already developed a sense of warmth that this site was able to have such a wonderful, well respected, bright person as part of the community. Let's remember her for what she has done for this site. I wish to you the best Jasmine and let your future be filled with joyous moments.
